- Suppressive test: if increased uptake of radioactive iodine by the gland is noted on scintigraphy, the patient has prescribed liothyronine 75 mcg daily for a week, and then a repeat study is prescribed.
The daily dose is divided into three doses. Before starting treatment, it is imperative to undergo tests for hormone levels and consult an endocrinologist.
